These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of KnowLabel, an AI-powered ingredient analysis service operated by Elevate Web Studio. By using KnowLabel, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. Service Description
KnowLabel is an ingredient education tool that uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to analyze product ingredient lists and provide plain-English explanations of what's in your products.
What KnowLabel Does:
- Analyzes ingredient lists from food, supplements, skincare, and other consumer products
- Provides safety ratings and plain-English explanations for each ingredient
- Highlights potential allergens and concerns based on your personal profile
- Offers general product recommendations and shopping guidance
What KnowLabel Does NOT Do:
- Medical diagnosis or treatment — we don't diagnose conditions or prescribe treatments
- Professional nutritional advice — consult a registered dietitian for personalized nutrition guidance
- Allergy management — always consult an allergist for managing allergies
- Replace product labels — always read official product labels and consult manufacturers
- Guarantee accuracy — AI analysis may contain errors; use your judgment

KnowLabel is for educational purposes only. The ingredient analysis and safety ratings provided by KnowLabel are based on AI-generated research and general safety data. They do not constitute medical, nutritional, or professional advice.
You Should NOT Use KnowLabel To:
- Diagnose or treat medical conditions
- Make decisions about allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions without consulting a doctor
- Replace advice from qualified healthcare professionals, allergists, or registered dietitians
- Determine if a product is safe for you personally without consulting your doctor

3. User Responsibilities
When using KnowLabel, you agree to:

- Respect usage limits — don't abuse or overload the service
- Keep your account secure — protect your password and don't share your account

- Not scrape or automate — don't use bots, scrapers, or automated tools without permission
4. Subscription Terms

- Resets on the 1st of each month
- No credit card required
Premium Plan ($6.99/month)
- Unlimited ingredient scans
- Monthly billing via Stripe
- Cancel anytime (no long-term commitment)
- Promo codes accepted at checkout
Billing & Cancellation
- Auto-renewal — your subscription renews automatically each month
- Cancellation — cancel anytime through your account settings (access until end of billing period)
- No refunds — we don't offer refunds for partial months (your access continues until the end of your billing period)
- Payment failures — if your payment fails, your subscription will be paused until payment is updated
- Price changes — we'll notify you 30 days before any price increase
5. Limitation of Liability
YOU USE KNOWLABEL AT YOUR OWN RISK. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
We Are NOT Liable For:
- Errors in ingredient analysis — AI-generated content may contain mistakes
- Health outcomes — allergic reactions, adverse effects, or health issues arising from products you use based on KnowLabel's analysis
- Product safety — we don't test products or verify manufacturer claims
- Third-party actions — ingredient data accuracy, product recalls, or manufacturer changes
- Service interruptions — downtime, data loss, or technical issues
- Financial loss — lost revenue, wasted purchases, or other economic damages
- Indirect damages — consequential, incidental, punitive, or special damages
Maximum Liability Cap
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of KnowLabel is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or $10, whichever is greater).
State-Specific Rights
Some states don't allow limitations on implied warranties or liability for incidental/consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you. You may have other rights that vary by state.
6. Usage Limits & Fair Use
- Ingredient limit — KnowLabel analyzes up to 30 ingredients per scan (most products have 10-30 ingredients)
- No abuse — don't attempt to overwhelm or exploit the service (e.g., sending 1000 scans in a minute)
- Personal use only — don't resell, redistribute, or commercialize KnowLabel's analysis
- Rate limiting — we may throttle excessive usage to ensure fair access for all users
If you violate fair use policies, we may suspend or terminate your account.
7. Account Termination
You Can:
- Cancel your subscription anytime (access continues until end of billing period)
We Can:
- Suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms
- Terminate abusive, fraudulent, or illegal accounts without notice
- Discontinue KnowLabel at any time (with 30 days' notice for paid subscribers)
Upon termination, you lose access to your account. We may retain certain data for legal compliance (see Privacy Policy).
8. Intellectual Property
KnowLabel Owns:
- The KnowLabel brand, logo, and design
- The software, code, and algorithms powering KnowLabel
- Analysis results generated by our AI system
You Own:
- The ingredient lists you submit
- Your personal data (see Privacy Policy)
License to Use:
By submitting ingredient lists, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to process and analyze them to provide the service. We don't claim ownership of your data.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:
- We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- For significant changes, we'll notify you via email
- Continued use of KnowLabel after changes means you accept the updated Terms
If you don't agree with the updated Terms, you can cancel your subscription and stop using KnowLabel.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Elevate Web Studio operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of KnowLabel will be resolved through binding arbitration (not court), except where prohibited by law. You waive your right to a jury trial and class action lawsuits.
11. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in effect. Unenforceable provisions will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make them enforceable.
